## How can I cancel a car rental booking?

### To cancel a car rental in the Hopper App:

1\. Tap **Help**

2\. Tap the car rental you'd like to cancel

3\. Tap **Cancel my Trip**

4\. Review the cancelation policy and Swipe to cancel

  
If eligible, after Hopper has processed your refund, you should receive it in your payment account in 3-10 business days, depending on your financial institution.

### Car rental cancelation policies

Each car rental company defines and enforces its own cancelation policies, which usually fit into one of three categories on Hopper.

### Types of car rental cancelation policies

*   Free cancelation: If you cancel, you will get the total cost of your car rental refunded.
*   Flexible cancelation: If you cancel within the indicated time frame, you will get the total cost of your car rental refunded. If you cancel after, a fee will apply.
*   Paid cancelation: If you cancel, you will receive a partial refund after cancelation fees are deducted.
*   Non-refundable: It is not possible to cancel or get a refund.

### To review your cancelation policy:

#### On the app:

1\. Tap **Trips**

2\. Tap the car rental you'd like to review

3\. Review your trip summary

4\. Review the **Cancelation Policy** section  
  

You can also go to your Hopper booking confirmation email and review **Car details**

### Extenuating circumstances

Car rental services typically do not make exceptions to their cancellation policies, except in cases of extenuating circumstances, such as a family death or medical emergency. Each company defines these circumstances and may require supporting documentation. Other exceptions, like extreme weather or natural disasters, are not granted individually and are usually temporary.
